Ok, just to let everyone know this build isn’t dead. I am in parts collect and research mode. I’ve collected a new rear bumper (actually 2) as the original one is all bent to hell. I’ve collected another taillight so that I can have proper turn signals. Something not available on ’49s. I’ve also gotten my running gear for the car. I’ll elaborate more on this later.
I almost forgot. Here’s my Brand New car haulin trailer!

Realized I’ve been posting more on my new Facebook than here. So here’s a shot of me organizing my garage getting ready to bring the Woodie home. I need to have a garage sale, put new shoes on the Woodie, and get my towing mirrors for the truck. I can’t see with my new trailer.

So I purchased this NOS bezel off of a popular auction site that said shelf wear. Well, I think this pitting is more than shelf wear. I know it’s a 61 year old part, but a description is a description. I contacted the seller & they are sending me another one to pick between the two! Good people are still out there!

This weekend I finally did something I’ve been wanting to do for years. I took a metal shaping class! More specifically one with Ron Covell aka Prof. Hammer!
I not only wanted to learn something, which I did, but also help drive enthusiasm for my project, which it did.
Probably the only bad thing about the class besides having to drive 3 hours & spend 2 nights away from home, is the realization that I simply am under equipped. I now want a TIG welder, English Wheel, shrinker & stretcher, and a planishing hammer. I should have taken this class BEFORE Christmas! Now I have to wait 6 months for my birthday…

I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas to everyone.
Also some requires reading for the Shoebox guys. My recommendation is the Original shop manual and NOT the Woodie Shop Service Manual. The Ford Manual has the same info for us Shoebox guys. The shop service just has a reprint of the information. The Shop Service manual
does have a lot of info on other Woodies if you are interested.

Here are some N.O.S. Hella SR87 taillights. I have no idea what they are original to, I have an idea that they are for a tractor but who knows? I think making them into rockets and putting them on the woodie would be cool.

Well, in preparation for moving the car to my garage, I put some of those Car Dollies under the Woodie. While I was there, I decided to take a few pictures. Yes, the car is still rough, but my metal skills have increased a lot since I acquired it over a decade ago, so hopefully I won’t get too discouraged.

- 1949 Ford Woodie Hood Up, Finally!
Next Picture is of the Engine Compartment. I can’t believe I’ve never opened the hood before! Shame on me, even though it took a pry bar to get it open.

The next picture is of the dash, and all the junk piled in the car

Here is the picture of the rockers. They are paper thin.

This is the worst of the rot on the roof. The drip gutters are completely gone, and the metal that they attahed to might need to be replaced in some sections.

A shot of the rear of the car. You can’t tell from the pictures, but it has 1979 plates on it. I believe it was last on the road in 1981 or 1982. I have no idea how I’m going to be able to fix that rear bumper… I’ve never attempted that before. I’m thinking a lot of fire and beating…

Some rot to attend to in the back window frame. At least it is flat metal. That’s not too daunting.

Here is a shot of the rear hinge. I was worried about this, as it would be difficult to repair. I just need to find/fix/make one side of the stainless hinge as it is mangled to hell.

A shot of the rare 3rd seat option

While on a business trip to Norway, I believe I found a somewhat ‘new’ food to add to my favorites list.
It is a bacon wrapped hot dog. Top that with the bacon cheese spread from the same 7-11 corner store and you have heart clog on a bun. Yum!

Here are some older pictures of the Woodie.
The first picture shows the car back in it’s prime.
The next two pictures are of the interior about a decade ago.
The last picture is of the Woodie when I moved it to Texas about 5 years ago.
